Charitable Act of the Day

Hi everyone,

Each of us should to do a charitable act each day. It doesn’t have to be something big, it’s just meant to get us thinking about doing small things for others each day, things that we can concretely identify as being done out of love for God and others.

We thought that writing down what you have done would have two purposes - it would encourage us to do things that we can distinctly identify as being outside of our daily duties to God and others, and secondly, it would help provide others examples of small things that can be done with great love for God (as were Saint Therese’s words). These can be posted anonymously.

Thanks everyone, hope you’re all having a great day :)

Today I created a page where the young adults from St. John’s, Newfoundland can post their charitable act of the day.

Hi everyone. Before Mass I ran ahead so that I could open the door for an older couple going into the Church. After Mass I saw an older lady who looked like she was walking home. I drove up to her and asked if she needed a ride. Apparently a couple of days earlier she had been in a minor car accident coming back from Mass. She didn’t want to drive until the vehicle was repaired. She accepted my offer and I drove her home.

Theodoric and I went downtown Saturday night ( Prayed the Rosary along the way). After leaving, I drove home three other guys who were waiting for a cab. When they got out, they said, ” I don’t know who you are but you guys are Saints”. It was a good all around “Wholesome” night.

I was home most of the day, so it was hard to find something to do. I ran up the stairs to open the door for a lady and then after she went in I ran up a second flight to open the door for her again. Truthfully, I think she thought I was a bit strange.

I pulled out all the laminate flooring in my friend Theodoric’s house living room.

My tenant needed wine bottles for an upcoming pre-wedding wine party, so I gave him all the ones I had and lent him a corker. I can do better, though.

I picked up a pen when the lady next to me dropped it - and I offered it up.

I let a car cut in front of me during rush hour traffic this morning.

A girl just dropped by to pick up a piece of furniture she saw on Kijiji. I gave her a ton of other stuff for free to make her day brighter and ’cause God has been good to me.

I listened to a woman talk about her nervous breakdown and her suffering through the years for 2 hours today.

On my way into confession I noticed a nun struggling to carry 2 card tables into the church. She set one down and continued walking with the other, so I carried the one she left behind inside for her.

The other sister who was holding the door thanked me and said I must have been sent from heaven to help.

I knew of a person who wouldn’t have had a meal and fed him.
